Pitch Time for AI assistants

Use Pitch Time in ChatGPT, Claude and other AI assistants

Ask for a fair youth soccer lineup, then share or print the plan. Pitch Time is a youth soccer coaching app that automatically generates fair playing time lineups.

A free connection for your coaching assistant

MCP (Model Context Protocol) lets an assistant use these coaching tools. Add the server below to an assistant that supports remote MCP over Streamable HTTP. No Pitch Time account, API key or authentication is required. Your assistant’s own plan and workspace permissions still apply.

This is a tool endpoint, so opening it as a normal web page returns “Method not allowed.” Use the setup steps below, or try the free lineup builder directly.

What can I ask it to do?

Build a fair lineup

Get positions and the bench for every substitution window, each player’s minutes, and a link to share or print.

generate_fair_lineup

“Make a fair 9v9 lineup for these 12 kids for a 60-minute game: Alex, Sam, Jo, Max, Noor, Mia, Leo, Zoe, Eli, Kai, Lou, Ren. Alex and Sam can play goalkeeper.”

Choose a formation

Find a formation for your format or age group, with alternatives and notes for balanced, attacking or defensive play.

recommend_formation

“Recommend a balanced formation for a U9 team learning 7v7, and explain the alternatives.”

Calculate equal minutes

See minutes and percentage per player, bench size, a simple rotation interval and whether equal shares meet a 50% minimum.

calculate_playing_time

“How much playing time can each of 12 players get in a 60-minute 9v9 game? Does that meet a half-game minimum?”

Lineups support 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11, halves or quarters, optional goalkeeper names and preferred positions. Minutes are balanced in equal substitution segments. A fixed goalkeeper or a large roster can limit equal time; the result explains those constraints.

How do I connect my assistant?

These are custom server connections. Availability and settings labels vary by assistant, account and workspace; no directory listing is required.

Claude

Open Settings → Connectors (or Customize → Connectors), choose Add custom connector, and enter https://pitchtime.app/mcp. Name it “Pitch Time” and enable it in your conversation. Team workspaces may need an administrator to add the connector.

Claude Code

Run this command, then check the connection with /mcp:

claude mcp add --transport http pitchtime https://pitchtime.app/mcp

Codex

Add this entry to ~/.codex/config.toml:

[mcp_servers.pitchtime]
url = "https://pitchtime.app/mcp"

VS Code

Add the server to .vscode/mcp.json in your project, start it from VS Code’s MCP controls, and enable its tools in chat:

{
  "servers": {
    "pitchtime": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://pitchtime.app/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Cursor

Add this to your project’s .cursor/mcp.json or your global ~/.cursor/mcp.json, then enable the server in Cursor’s MCP settings:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "pitchtime": {
      "url": "https://pitchtime.app/mcp"
    }
  }
}

ChatGPT

Enable developer mode in Settings where your account and workspace allow it. Create a custom connector, app or plugin connection, enter https://pitchtime.app/mcp, and select no authentication. Review the three discovered tools and enable the connection in your chat.

OpenAI’s current instructions place developer mode under Security and login and add connections from Plugins. Some accounts use Apps or Connectors labels. Follow the official instructions for your account.

What happens to player names?

The Pitch Time MCP server needs no account and stores no lineups. It processes names in memory to compute your result, without logging request bodies or forwarding them to another service. Your AI assistant receives the result and handles your conversation according to its own policies.

Share links keep the lineup after the # in the URL fragment, which browsers do not send to the website’s server. The lineup page decodes it in your browser and does not load analytics or the support widget. Anyone you send the full link to can read the names. The web builder also runs entirely in your browser.
